The challenge of the 'disposable' cup

A freshly squeezed Orange juice on the local market; A rum punch at the Caribbean street party. A gin & tonic at the music festival. A beer at the football. Local yumminess and lots of waste for our desire to taste! Coffee, rum-punch, cocktails, and beers: In many countries, it’s served in a ‘single use’ plastic cup. A cup is Created, packed, shipped, driven, driven, driven, then has an average lifespan of 15 minutes and is thrown ‘away.’ To end up in the ocean or landfill.
It doesn’t make sense, does it?
88% of the sea's surface is polluted by plastic waste. Between 8 to 14 million tonnes enters our ocean every year. Britain contributes an estimated 1.7 million tonnes of plastic annually.

"Think reusable- Not disposable"

Plastic pollution, inefficient resource use, and production of greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming, are among the most urgent global challenges.

It is estimated that 85 million adults attending over 7,000 outdoor events annually, are using at least 100 million plastic bar cups.

Moving away from single use disposables is one way that events can reduce their negative environmental impacts and help bring change towards more sustainable behaviours in society.

While switching to reusable cups is currently a voluntary decision it will soon be paramount that this will be the sustainable solution for the hospitality & events industry.

Here at CHEERS we look forward to working with you towards a more sustainable greener future. After all...

The show must go on!

“It's pretty cool enjoying drinks with my friends knowing i'm not adding to landfill or polluting oceans...it's gotta start with someone right!? To the Future  ...CHEERS"
